Jonathan took an Art class for one of his electives in sixth grade. Here is some of the work he did.
I learned how to make a waving flag this year, and it is important to notice that the words slightly curve with the flag. In these four drawings I was told to rate myself between 1 and 4.
In these first for pictures we were given step by step instructions. I think I did the shading very well.
This was special because, to show depth, the candles are different sizes and hights. Once again the words were curved on the picture.
This wasn't very different from any of the other pictures, and I think the bow is horrible, but it isn't all that easy to make.
This and "Popeye's cabnet" were desined to test what we had learned. We were given the picture and told to draw it. The flag getting farter away was an addition made by me.
I added the banner, because it was a huge line of spinach. (The origional picture was intitled "Attack of the Spinach Cans")
This was the first main piece of artwork My class did. We were doing a unit on Japenese art and were givin many pictures to draw. We were then told to pick one for our final project, and this was my favorite picture. We traced the drawing on to the fabric and then painted the picture with watercolor. When it dried, my class embroidered the parts we wished to emphasize. We then picked a backround color that fit our picture. My teacher took three of the pictures and put them one the wall for the rest of the year, and my dragon was one of them.
This fish was suposed to be leaping out of the water (which I didn't add), and was a little tricky to draw, with the twisting tail, the scales (I am bad at scales, these get larger part way the fish), and all fishfaces are tricky, but I think I did very well.
I don't know what type of fish this is, but I think it was a bass. I didn't finish the scales on this fish (they would have been bad anyway), but other than that I did well, with the fish face, the rough fin, and the curving tail.
This is actualy the fish above with scales. It was a first copy, which I redid on acount of the fact that the tail was bad. There are many other differences, and you can decide which one you like more.
I have no idea what kind of fish this is. I didn't add scales but it is still a good fish. It is also simple, for a fish. Ignore the treble clefs, I was reminding myself how to make a treble clef, and this happened to be some extra paper I could use.
There isn't much to say. The bamboo drawings I used to draw were taken from a napkin. This was part of the Japanese Unit.
This bamboo is larger than the other. The intresting paterns come from the leaves of other bamboo. This bamboo curves slightly. That was a mistake.
